Amrinder Gill was seen in the typical Punjabi villager looks in “Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo” which was released in 2014 and that movie did wonders on the box office. Once more Amrinder is looking in the same sort of touch in Angrej.
Showing abroad locations especially Canada, has been one pomegranate for almost every needful to make their movie look rich and different. But the Angrej movie team has chosen a completely different track by showing a very old look of Punjab.
About Story –
On a time when Love marriages were not even in thoughts of villagers, an innocent villager Angrej aka Geja (Amrinder Gill) falls in love with a girl, Madho (Aditi Sharma) and interestingly he takes his love near to the marriage too. But in comes another hero in Madho’s life, a dynamic young man, Haakam (Ammy Virk) and the story turns around but again a new entry of a heroine, the very bubbly, Dhan Kaur (Sargun Mehta) gives it another turn.
What’s Good –
There is a lot to praise about Angrej, almost everything. From story to characters, from from direction to locations, cinematography to Music, everything has been worked very hard upon.
What’s Not –
A very little touch of repeated story from some earlier movies and a bit of fast turnaround in love stories are the very small flaws in the movie, other than that a very well made movie, Angrej.
About Characters –
Amrinder Gill was appreciated with the best performance of his acting career for “Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo” but he has surpassed even that performance in Angrej. He is terrific in his innocent character and probably looked the best in acting till now. The female leads, Aditi Sharma and Sargun Mehta, both are brilliant in their individual performances especially Sargon Mehta. Ammy Virk is the surprise package in this movie. He has played his character tremendously. Binnu Dhillon is superb as always. Sardar Sohi’s and Aneeta Devgun’s characters are very enjoyable and provide great support to the film.
About Direction –
As compare to his earlier directed movies, “Daddy Cool and Munde Fool” and “Baaz”, Angrej must have been a big challenge for Simerjit Singh because of it’s concept, look and feel. But hats off to Simerjit Singh for doing an amazing job and creating almost the visualized looks of old Punjab.
About Story, Screenplay & Dialogs –
In Angrej, all the three important factors for a movie; story, screenplay and dialogs are almost perfect for a hit movie. Amberdeep Singh is at his best writing skills once more.
About Music –
There isn’t much doubt left in the quality of the music when there is a name like Amrinder Gill is associated to the movie and to uplift the chances of hit songs, Ammy Virk is also there. All the songs are very enjoyable and fit in with the concept. Nothing to take away from the Music director, Jatinder Shah and the lyricists, Happy Raikoti, Jaggi Jagwal & Vinder Nathu Majra.
All in All (About Movie) –
All in all, Angrej is going to do wonders to Amrinder Gill’s filmy career and also to the director, Simerjit Singh. Brilliantly executed plot and smoothly entertaining movie which doesn’t make you feel, you are sitting in cinema hall for two hours. The weekend must fetch the big crowd in. MUST WATCH!!
Star Rating –
From punjabgold.com, Angrej gets 4.5/5.
