Movie Review – Disco Singh

It is always a pleasure for Punjabi movies viewers to see actors like Diljit Dosanjh and Surveen Chawla, on top of that if the Director is Anurag Singh then there should not be a reason to miss the movie.

In the recent past, the comedy and romantic comedy movies are not touching the audience as well as few years ago. But yet the successful duo, Anurag Singh and Diljit Dosanjh have decided to come up with a rom-com movie and it’s not the Jatt & Juliet 3, it’s Disco Singh.

The title Disco Singh suggested to have something to do with Dance or singing in the story line up and both the things relates very well to Diljit Dosanjh.

About Story –

Laattu (Diljit Dosanjh), the orchestra owner, is a success dreamer and wants to become a popular singer but the only album he could managed to release, turned up to be a super flop. Laattu is financially very weak to release another album and he keeps on seeking for luck. Destiny takes a turn when a Don, Bhupinder Singh (Manoj Pahwa) forces Laattu to act as a boy friend to a famous model Sweety (Surveen Chawla) who is already Laattu’s dream girl. But the Don, Bhupinder Singh keeps them apart from each other even though they get attracted towards each other. Some other love story confusions enter in Laattu’s life along with being on Don’s gun point.

What’s Good –
Not much to talk about except the acting of some of the characters, especially Surveen Chawla and some funny moments in the story. The story moves better in the second half as compare to the pre-interval segment.

What’s Not –
There is so much to talk about the Not Good section of the movie. From story to screenplay, direction to acting, locations to dress ups, there are too many loopholes in Disco Singh. It’s hard to believe but you don’t get anything to take with you except the disappointment from a Diljit Dosanjh and Anurag Singh movie.

About Characters –
Diljit Dosanjh is one of the top names in Pollywood when it comes to acting. But he seems to have stuck under only one character after Jatt & Juliet series. He is a wonderful and a versatile actor without a doubt but he needs to show that more now in his movies. Surveen Chawla has always played her characters very naturally and she has done the same in Disco Singh. It won’t be wrong if we say that Surveen is the only stand out character in the movie. BN Sharma is one of the leading comedians in Punjabi movies and he has been given a very different & a challenging character in the movie but sadly it doesn’t come out as a positive. Apporva Arora and Karamjit Anmol have played his part reasonably well but Upasna Singh & Chandan Prabhakar failed to make any impact.

About Story, Screenplay & Dialogs –
Again have to say that it’s unbelievable but nothing goes in favor of Disco Singh when we talk about the story, screenplay & dialogs. Story lacks interest and screenplay & dialog lack the punches to make people get entertained.

About Music & Background Score –

The songs are already been out for quite a long time now and they are getting an even-steven response which is again a surprise for Diljit Dosanjh’s movie. Usually his songs rule on people’s minds but it’s not the case this time. Beautiful Billo and Faisley are the pick of the songs. Background music is decent and goes with the situations most of the time.

About Direction –
Anurag Singh has been the man responsible for the blockbusters like Jatt& Juliet, Jatt & Juliet 2 and Yaar Anmulle. But Disco Singh stands nowhere near to his standards and it seems like a poor job by Anurag’s magic.

All in All (About Movie) –
All in all, Disco Singh rides on the star power and branding of Diljit Dosanjh, Surveen Chawla & Anurag Singh which could attract the spectators to the cinema halls but eventually it’s the content which does all the talking and in this case Disco Singh is way below the expectations.

Star Rating –
From, Disco Singh gets 2/5.
